How to "Improve your Eye" to see a stride with Kirstin Kelly.

This video will explain how to "improve your eye" so you can see a distance. I explain how it's listening to the beat of the canter and feeling as well as seeing the stride coming. There is no such thing as a bad distance, just a distance you don't like. Your idea of a bad stride might be when your close but to a professional rider, they might think that is a great distance. Try to accept and r...

It is easy to ride and the horses really enjoy doing it too. It is a great exercise to improve the horses' balance too. To improve your confidence and to g...

I can see distances, but when I see a 'bad' distance, I don't know how to correct it. Let's say I see a really deep distance 5 strides away from the jump, do I collect the canter, or support with my legs for a bigger stride?

Hi Kirstin, thanks for your wonderful video’s ❤. I am a beginner rider and often get comment on my flexion on a corcle. I am told to hold my reins firmer and to ask more flexion with the inside reign. I am still very confused about the correct position of my hands on a circle, it seems when I ask more with my imside reign my hands aren’t level. Could you explain where and how my hands should be please? Thanks a lot it would realy mean a lot. Ps sorry for such a basic question

Interesting. I think I might be getting confused with using a squeeze on the outside rein to turn while giving the horse room to move out into a larger circle. It's all so confusing.

What about a horse that will jump fine most of the time, but stops at the last second every now and then. We think my daughter is getting ahead of him. Because when he refuses, she flies over him and the jump. Getting dangerous. He hasn't done this with anyone else. Could she be on his neck too much?

Are there any changes in these principles for riding at the canter? My mare seems to bend and flex at the pole decently in both directions at the trot but when we ride the canter she feels stiff in both directions, her head is higher and her body is straight. She feels like a motorcycle through her turns, leaning instead of bending. I try to stay upright through my turns and keep good contact on my outside rein but it just feels like a fight...

Oh wow I never thought it could be me making it happen! I thought he just rushed fences because he got excited to jump but I think now it’s because whenever he wouldn’t pick up his feet to jump when he first started jumping I would collect him and just push and push and ride him forward really well to make him excited and let him know we’re going to do something you can’t just drags yourself over the fence

This is so helpful! I have a horse that sticks her nose out quite a bit. I don’t think she has the correct muscle buildup to hold the contact for very long as she is still green in her schooling. Do you recommend possibly putting loose side reins on whilst lunging OR just asking for roundness like in the video but little bits and then giving her head back?? Thanks!
